Guarafía is a refined and expressive 100% Garnacha crafted by Bodegas Carchelo from unique high-altitude vineyards located in the Sierra del Carche within D.O. Jumilla. Planted at around 600 metres above sea level, the vineyards benefit from cooler mountain influences, limestone soils and significant day-to-night temperature variation, producing wines with freshness, elegance and aromatic precision.

Produced from organically farmed vineyards, Guarafía is vinified using semi-carbonic maceration, enhancing the purity and vibrancy of the Garnacha fruit. The wine is then aged for 6 months in grey granite foudre, bringing texture and subtle structure while preserving freshness and varietal character.

On the nose, Guarafía opens with aromas of wild strawberries, raspberries and red currants layered with floral notes, subtle spice and delicate mineral nuances. The palate is silky, vibrant and beautifully balanced, with fine tannins, refreshing acidity and an elegant Mediterranean finish.

This is a modern and gastronomic Garnacha that showcases the fresher and more elegant side of Jumilla winemaking.

About the Producer

Founded in 1990, Bodegas Carchelo is a family-run winery located at the foot of the protected Sierra del Carche Natural Park in the heart of D.O. Jumilla, Murcia. Over the last decades, the winery has become one of the leading modern producers of the region, known for crafting wines that balance Mediterranean richness with freshness, elegance and terroir expression.

The vineyards are planted between 600 and 750 metres above sea level, where limestone and sandy-loam soils, low rainfall and dramatic day-to-night temperature shifts create ideal conditions for expressive and balanced wines. These mountain conditions help preserve acidity and aromatic complexity while allowing perfect ripening of Mediterranean varieties such as Monastrell, Syrah and Garnacha.
