Description
Alont | DO Jumilla, Spain
🌿 Organic
Alont is the flagship red from Bodegas Pío del Ramo, a powerful yet elegant Mediterranean blend of Monastrell, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon from DO Jumilla. The winery selects its finest lots to create Alont, bringing together ripe fruit, concentration and spice with the structure and complexity gained through extended oak ageing.
The grapes come from organically managed vineyards in the Jumilla area. Monastrell provides the Mediterranean heart of the wine, while Syrah contributes ripe fruit and spice and Cabernet Sauvignon adds structure and elegance. The region’s warm, dry conditions naturally encourage concentration, while careful vineyard management helps the grapes maintain balance and character.
The team harvests the grapes by hand and carefully selects the fruit before fermentation. Temperature-controlled fermentation allows the winery to retain the intensity and personality of each variety before the wine begins its long maturation in oak.
Alont spends around 18 months in oak barrels, developing greater depth and complexity while maintaining its rich fruit character. French and American oak contribute toasted and spicy nuances that complement rather than overwhelm the ripe Mediterranean fruit.
In the glass, Alont shows intense ripe fruit alongside toasted and spicy aromas. The palate delivers impressive body and volume, but silky tannins and good balance keep the wine elegant. It finishes long and persistent, combining power with a remarkably smooth texture.
This is a serious Jumilla red with plenty of presence — rich and concentrated, yet polished enough to show that Mediterranean power doesn’t have to mean heaviness.

A beautifully polished expression of powerful Jumilla fruit. Alont has concentration and depth, but its silky texture and elegant balance make it much more than simply a big Mediterranean red.
About the Producer
Bodegas Pío del Ramo is a family winery based in Ontur, Albacete, close to the border between Castilla-La Mancha and Murcia. The winery produces wines under both DO Jumilla and IGP Vinos de la Tierra de Castilla, with organic production forming an important part of its identity.
Monastrell plays a central role in the winery’s red wines. Pío del Ramo combines this native Mediterranean variety with grapes that have adapted particularly well to the local conditions, including Syrah, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Garnacha Tintorera.
The vineyards experience a demanding Mediterranean-continental climate with hot summers, cold winters and limited rainfall. These conditions suit Monastrell particularly well and help create grapes with concentration, ripe fruit and distinctive Mediterranean character.
Pío del Ramo combines careful vineyard work with a modern approach in the cellar. For Alont, the winery brings together Monastrell, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon and uses extended oak maturation to add complexity while retaining the character of the fruit.
Alont sits at the top of the range and represents the winery’s more ambitious style — powerful and concentrated, but with enough freshness, polished tannins and elegance to create a genuinely sophisticated Jumilla red.
