Description
La Nuage Malbec | Uco Valley, Argentina
La Nuage Malbec is a bright, juicy and wonderfully approachable Argentine Malbec from Anelis, made high in Mendoza’s beautiful Uco Valley.
This is Malbec on its fresher, more playful side. Ripe cherry and plum fill the glass, with plenty of juicy red-fruit character and just a gentle hint of spice. There’s no need to search for this wine’s personality — it’s there from the first sip.
The palate is smooth and easy-going, with fresh fruit, soft tannins and enough structure to make it satisfying without becoming heavy. Anelis describes it as fresh, young and beautifully balanced, which sums it up rather nicely.
And then there’s the bottle. La Nuage certainly doesn’t disappear quietly onto a wine rack. The colourful artwork is part of the Anelis philosophy of bringing wine and art together, making this a great bottle to take to dinner, give as a gift or simply put on the table when you fancy something a little different. The La Nuage label was created collaboratively by Anne Smurra and Isabel Peña.
If you like Malbec but don’t always want something big, oaky and serious, this is exactly the attraction of La Nuage: lots of fruit, plenty of personality and very easy to enjoy.

Juicy Malbec without the heaviness — lots of cherry and plum, soft tannins and bags of personality. And let’s face it, that fabulous bottle doesn’t hurt either.
About the Producer
Anelis is a boutique Argentine wine project founded in 2014 by artist Anne Smurra, with a lovely idea at its heart: bring wine and art together while showcasing wines from some of Mendoza’s most interesting vineyard areas.
The project has particularly strong connections with Vista Flores and La Consulta in the Uco Valley, and different wineries and winemakers have collaborated on individual Anelis wines. The result is an intentionally varied collection rather than a conventional winery range made under one roof.
Art is a big part of what makes Anelis immediately recognisable. Different artists and designers have created labels across the collection, giving each wine its own personality before the cork has even been pulled.
La Nuage is one of the project’s Malbec expressions. Earlier releases used fruit from Vista Flores, while Anelis’s current La Nuage is described as 100% Argentine Malbec from the Uco Valley at 1,250 meters above sea level.
Rather than covering the fruit with oak, La Nuage celebrates Malbec in a youthful, uncomplicated style. It’s exactly the sort of wine Anelis does well: distinctive enough to catch your attention, but above all made to be opened and enjoyed.
