Description
Artuke La Condenada | DO Rioja, Spain
Organic
Artuke La Condenada is one of the most celebrated and limited-production wines crafted by Bodegas Artuke , sourced from a historic vineyard in Baños de Ebro in Rioja Alavesa. Produced from a field blend led by Tempranillo with important contributions from Graciano and smaller amounts of Garnacha and Palomino Fino, the wine represents one of the purest expressions of modern terroir-driven Rioja.
The vineyard was planted in 1920 and later rescued by the Artuke family after years of abandonment — the origin of the name La Condenada (“The Doomed”). Today it is farmed organically and worked entirely by hand, with obsessive attention to preserving the identity and energy of the site.
The grapes are manually destemmed by berry before fermentation in tiny micro-tanks with indigenous yeasts and extremely gentle extraction. Aging takes place for around 12–16 months in used 600-liter French oak foudres, allowing the vineyard character and freshness of the fruit to remain completely transparent.
On the nose, La Condenada reveals extraordinary aromatic precision with notes of wild raspberry, red cherry and crushed violets layered alongside dried herbs, mineral tones and subtle spice. The palate is silky, energetic and incredibly refined, combining tension, freshness and remarkable length with ultra-fine tannins and a beautifully savory finish.
This is not traditional heavily oaked Rioja — it is a world-class vineyard wine focused on purity, finesse and emotional expression.

About the Producer
Bodegas Artuke is widely regarded as one of the most influential producers shaping the new generation of Rioja. Based in Baños de Ebro in Rioja Alavesa, the winery is run by brothers Arturo and Kike de Miguel Blanco, whose philosophy focuses on vineyard identity, freshness and authenticity rather than excessive oak aging or traditional classification systems.
Founded by their father Roberto in 1991, Artuke has become internationally recognized for producing terroir-driven wines from organically farmed old vineyards across Rioja Alavesa. Fermentations are spontaneous, extraction is deliberately gentle and oak is used with restraint in order to preserve purity and transparency of site.
The estate is closely associated with the “Rioja’n’Roll” movement — a collective of growers redefining Rioja through smaller vineyard-focused wines that emphasize elegance, energy and place. Their work has helped shift international attention toward a fresher and more Burgundian interpretation of Rioja without losing the soul of the region.
La Condenada stands at the very top of this philosophy — a wine of tiny production, remarkable precision and profound emotional character that has become one of the benchmark vineyard wines of modern Spain.
