Description
Donna Margherita Barbera d’Alba | Piedmont, Italy
Donna Margherita is a fresh, juicy Italian red that is incredibly easy to enjoy.
Made from 100% Barbera, it comes from the hills around Serralunga d’Alba in Piedmont. The vineyards sit between 350 and 520 meters, helping the grapes keep their lovely natural freshness.
Expect plenty of ripe plum, raspberry and blueberry, with a light floral touch.
On the palate, it is juicy and lively. Barbera naturally has good acidity and softer tannins, so the wine feels fresh and smooth rather than heavy.
A few months in large oak barrels add a little roundness, but you won’t find lots of obvious oak flavours. This is very much about the fruit.
And this is a fantastic food wine. Put it next to pizza, pasta, charcuterie or risotto and it simply works.
Juicy, fresh and unmistakably Italian — exactly the kind of red you open when you want everyone to have another glass.
That should make Yoast much happier too: shorter paragraphs, shorter sentences and far less complicated sentence structure. The rest of the page can stay as it is.

💎 Why We Love It
Proper Italian drinkability. Juicy fruit and Barbera’s gorgeous natural freshness make this the sort of bottle that disappears remarkably quickly once it’s on the table.
About the Producer
Giovanni Rosso is based in Serralunga d’Alba, one of the great villages of Barolo in Piedmont’s Langhe hills.
The Rosso family has cultivated vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba for generations, but the estate as we know it today has been shaped particularly by Giovanni Rosso and his son Davide Rosso. Their philosophy puts vineyard character ahead of winemaking tricks, with a strong emphasis on traditional varieties and the individual terroirs of the Langhe.
Although the estate is best known internationally for its Barolo — including wines from some exceptional Serralunga vineyards — Donna Margherita shows the much more relaxed side of Piedmont.
The wine is made entirely from Barbera, one of Piedmont’s traditional red varieties. Unlike Nebbiolo, Barbera is naturally low in tannin but high in acidity, giving wines that can combine generous fruit with tremendous freshness.
Donna Margherita is fermented in steel, with approximately 10–15 days of skin contact, daily pump-overs and a délestage during fermentation. It then spends a few months in large 50hl oak barrels.
The result is exactly what good Barbera should be: fruit-forward, lively and uncomplicated in the best possible sense — a wine made for drinking with food and friends.
