Description
Finca Los Halcones Cepas Viejas de Bobal | DO Manchuela, Spain
Organic
Vegan
Finca Los Halcones Cepas Viejas de Bobal is a serious, beautifully expressive red that shows just how impressive Bobal can be when it comes from old vines and is given time to develop.
The grapes come from an old vineyard planted in 1950, in the Cabriel Valley, surrounded by pine trees, oaks and aromatic Mediterranean plants. This special landscape lies within the transition area of the Valle del Cabriel UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and Vega Tolosa created Finca Los Halcones to capture the personality of this particular place.
Made from 100% Bobal, the wine is rich and concentrated without losing the freshness that makes this grape so appealing. Expect ripe blackberry and dark fruit, joined by black pepper, liquorice and gentle spice. 14 months in French oak barrels adds depth and roundness, while a further period of rest in bottle allows everything to come together beautifully.
This is one for anyone who loves a full-bodied Spanish red but wants to venture beyond the usual Rioja and Ribera del Duero. Powerful, polished and unmistakably Mediterranean, it is a fantastic example of why old-vine Bobal deserves considerably more attention.

💎 Why We Love It
Because this is the sort of wine that makes people ask, “Why don’t I drink more Bobal?”
Old vines, plenty of dark fruit and proper depth, but without becoming heavy or dominated by oak. It has power, but it also has character — and it gives us exactly what we want from Manchuela: something genuinely Spanish, a little unexpected and very easy to recommend to someone looking beyond the obvious regions.
About the Producer
Vega Tolosa is a family winery based in Casas-Ibáñez, Albacete, with generations of experience growing vines in Manchuela. Bobal is at the heart of the winery, and much of its work focuses on demonstrating how versatile and expressive this historic local grape can be.
The Finca Los Halcones project is particularly connected to its landscape. The name was inspired by the birds of prey, especially peregrine falcons, seen flying above the vineyards and the canyons of the Júcar and Cabriel. For the family, the falcon became a symbol of the natural environment and their connection to this particular piece of Manchuela.
