Description
Parables to Fly | DO Rioja, Spain
Parábolas para Volar is one of the most personal and expressive wines ever created by Bodegas Lecea, crafted by Estela Lecea from a historic family vineyard in San Asensio, Rioja Alta. Produced from 100% Garnacha, this limited-edition wine represents a fresher, more emotional and contemporary interpretation of Rioja while remaining deeply rooted in family tradition.
The grapes come from an old family-owned Garnacha vineyard planted around San Asensio, a village renowned for its historic “clarete” wines and limestone-clay soils that help preserve freshness and aromatic precision. Until now, Garnacha at Bodegas Lecea had traditionally been used for their famous clarete wines, making this one of the winery’s first standalone red Garnacha projects.
Following fermentation, the wine is aged for approximately 10 months in new French oak barrels, giving the Garnacha additional texture, subtle spice and elegant structure while allowing the purity of the fruit to remain the main focus.
On the nose, Parábolas para Volar reveals aromas of wild strawberries, ripe cherries and red berries layered with floral notes, balsamic hints and delicate Mediterranean herbs. The palate is fresh, silky and energetic with vibrant acidity, polished tannins and a long elegant finish marked by purity and finesse.
The wine was inspired by Estela Lecea’s years travelling through South America and working in Chile’s Casablanca Valley, where she first created an earlier version of “Parábolas para Volar” in 2016.
Only around 500 bottles were produced, making this an extremely limited and collectible Rioja Garnacha.

About the Producer
Bodegas Lecea is a historic family winery located in the famous Barrio de las Bodegas in San Asensio, Rioja Alta. The Lecea family has been producing wine for several generations and remains deeply connected to traditional Rioja winemaking methods while embracing small-scale innovation and personal expression.
One of the winery’s most remarkable features is its network of more than 300 metres of underground calados and caves dating back to the 16th century, where wines are still aged under naturally cool and humid conditions. The winery continues to preserve traditional practices including concrete fermentation tanks, manual grape handling and historic winemaking techniques unique to Rioja.
Today the winery is led by the Lecea family, including siblings Luis, Jorge and Estela Lecea, who combine respect for Rioja heritage with a more contemporary and emotional approach to wine. Their wines often focus on vineyard identity, freshness and authenticity rather than heavy extraction or excessive oak.
Parábolas para Volar perfectly captures this spirit — a wine born from family roots, travel, creativity and freedom of expression.
