Description
Barahonda Organic Barrica | DO Yecla, Spain
Organic
Vegan
Barahonda Organic Barrica is one of those reds that gives you plenty of flavour without becoming heavy or tiring.
Made from organically grown Monastrell and Syrah, it brings together ripe, juicy fruit with just enough oak to add warmth and depth. Six months in French oak softens the wine and adds a gentle savoury edge, while the fruit stays very much at the centre.
The palate is smooth and velvety, with plenty of ripe fruit and a lovely freshness running through it. The oak feels nicely integrated rather than dominant, leaving a clean, tasty finish that makes another glass remarkably easy to contemplate.
It’s also wonderfully versatile at the table. Meat, rice dishes, cheese, lentils — this isn’t a bottle that requires an elaborate dinner to work. Open it with good food and good company and let the wine do the rest.
And with certified organic vineyards and vegan-friendly production, it’s a very easy addition to the La Solera shelves.

A wonderfully approachable organic red with plenty of fruit, a silky texture and just the right touch of oak. Easy to enjoy, easy to pair and very unmistakably Yecla.
About the Producer
Bodegas Barahonda is based in Yecla, Murcia, an area where wine and Monastrell have been part of the landscape for generations.
For Barahonda, Monastrell is the star of the show. The grape is exceptionally well suited to Yecla’s hot summers, cold winters and demanding growing conditions, producing deeply coloured, characterful wines with plenty of Mediterranean personality.
The winery works with its vineyards as the foundation of everything it produces, combining Yecla’s traditional grape varieties with a modern, polished style. Its range stretches from fresh everyday wines to serious old-vine Monastrell, but the connection to the local landscape remains at the heart of the wines.
Barahonda Organic Barrica is a great example of that philosophy. Older organically farmed Monastrell is joined by Syrah, with six months in French oak bringing softness and complexity without covering up the fruit.
The result is exactly the sort of Spanish red we like: plenty of character, but absolutely no need to make drinking it complicated.
