Carchelo Altico is a premium 100% Syrah crafted by Bodegas Carchelo from a unique vineyard located on the northern slopes of the Sierra del Carche in D.O. Jumilla. Produced from organically farmed vines grown on limestone and sandy-loam soils, this wine reflects a fresher and more elegant interpretation of Mediterranean Syrah.

The vineyard sits in semi-dry conditions at altitude, where the combination of intense Mediterranean sunshine, limestone soils and dramatic day-to-night temperature shifts allows the grapes to achieve excellent ripeness while preserving freshness and aromatic precision.

Harvested by hand, Altico undergoes fermentation in stainless steel before ageing for 14 months in French oak barrels, adding structure, spice and depth while maintaining the purity of the Syrah fruit.

On the nose, the wine opens with aromas of wild berries, black cherries and ripe plums layered with floral notes of violets, Mediterranean herbs and subtle toasted spice. The palate is broad, silky and beautifully balanced, with polished tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, elegant finish.

This is a refined and gastronomic Syrah that beautifully expresses the landscape and freshness of the Sierra del Carche.

About the Producer

Founded in 1990, Bodegas Carchelo is a family-run winery located at the foot of the protected Sierra del Carche Natural Park in the heart of D.O. Jumilla, Murcia. Today, the winery is recognised as one of the leading modern producers of the region, focused on creating wines that combine Mediterranean identity with freshness, balance and elegance.

The vineyards are planted between 600 and 750 metres above sea level around the Sierra del Carche, where limestone and sandy-loam soils, low rainfall and strong day-to-night temperature differences create ideal conditions for expressive and balanced wines. These harsh but privileged conditions allow the grapes to develop concentration while retaining freshness and aromatic complexity.
