El Distinguido is a fresh and characterful 100% Verdejo from Bodegas Delampa, showing a different side of this popular Spanish white grape.

Rather than the straightforward, youthful style often associated with Verdejo, El Distinguido spends time on its lees. This adds texture and depth while retaining the grape’s naturally bright, aromatic personality.

On the nose, expect fresh citrus and green apple alongside herbal notes and a subtle mineral character. There are also hints of almond, adding another layer to its aromatic profile.

The palate is dry and wonderfully fresh, with crisp fruit and a smooth texture from the lees. A gentle herbal character and Verdejo’s characteristic touch of bitterness give the finish freshness and persistence.

It is an easy wine to enjoy on its own, but the additional texture makes it particularly good at the table — especially with seafood, fish and lighter Mediterranean dishes.

About the Producer

Bodegas Delampa is a family winery in Jumilla, Murcia, with a history stretching back more than a century. The winery was founded in 1921 by Julián Santos Martínez, who began making wine in a modest barn using grapes harvested from local vineyards.

More than 100 years and three generations later, Delampa remains a family project. The winery combines its long winemaking tradition with a modern approach and a commitment to sustainable production, producing both white and red wines from a broad selection of Spanish grape varieties.

Although Jumilla is best known for Monastrell, El Distinguido shows a completely different side of the winery, using Verdejo to create a fresh, aromatic white with additional character from lees ageing.
