Finca Los Halcones Viognier | DO Manchuela, Spain
Organic
Vegan
Finca Los Halcones Viognier is a wonderfully expressive Spanish take on the famous Rhône grape, made by Vega Tolosa in the wild landscape of DO Manchuela. Rich, aromatic and beautifully textured, this is Viognier with plenty of personality — but importantly, enough freshness to keep everything in balance.
The wine comes from Finca Los Halcones, a vineyard situated between the Júcar and Cabriel valleys. Surrounded by pine trees, holm oaks and Mediterranean herbs, it is part of the spectacular landscape of the Cabriel Valley. Vega Tolosa allows the Viognier to ripen a little later, developing the ripe fruit and aromatic intensity for which the variety is known.
Only a small part of the estate’s Viognier is selected for this wine, keeping production to just 3,000 bottles. It spends its first three months in new French oak barrels before another nine months in a large French oak foudre. Rather than making the wine taste heavily oaked, this gives it extra texture, depth and those lovely touches of toast and vanilla.
In the glass, expect ripe peach and apricot, floral notes of honeysuckle and a subtle mineral character. The palate is generous and silky, with ripe fruit, gentle vanilla and toasted notes, but there is enough freshness underneath to keep it elegant. Vega Tolosa describes it as one of its limited-production, gastronomic whites — and that is exactly where this wine shines.

💎 Why We Love It
Viognier can sometimes be almost too rich and perfumed. This one isn’t.
Finca Los Halcones has all that gorgeous peach, apricot and floral character we want from Viognier, but Manchuela gives it freshness and the careful oak ageing adds texture rather than simply making it taste of wood.
And with only 3,000 bottles produced, it isn’t something you’re going to see everywhere. It’s a brilliant choice for anyone who says, “I fancy a white wine, but I want something a bit different.”
About the Producer
Vega Tolosa is a family winery based in Casas-Ibáñez, Albacete, with its roots firmly in DO Manchuela and the landscape surrounding the Júcar and Cabriel valleys.
The family is particularly known for its work with Bobal, but Finca Los Halcones shows another side of the winery. The estate takes its name from the peregrine falcons and other birds of prey that can be seen flying above the vineyards. The vineyard lies within the Cabriel Valley landscape, an area recognised by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve.
The Los Halcones range allows Vega Tolosa to explore varieties beyond Bobal while retaining the character of its vineyards. With Viognier, the aim is not simply to imitate the Rhône, but to show what this famously aromatic grape can become in the Mediterranean-influenced landscape of Manchuela.
