Description
Froiña Albariño | DO Rías Baixas, Spain
Froiña Albariño is a beautifully expressive white wine from Casa do Sol, a family-owned winery in DO Rías Baixas. Produced from 100% Albariño, it reflects the freshness of Galicia while adding extra depth through extended ageing on its fine lees.
The vineyards are spread across the Ulla Valley and Val do Salnés, where granite soils and the cool Atlantic climate help the grapes ripen slowly. As a result, the wine develops vibrant fruit, natural freshness and a distinctive mineral character.
After fermentation with the winery’s own native yeasts, Froiña spends around 10 months on its fine lees. This careful ageing creates a richer texture and greater complexity while preserving the bright character that makes Albariño so enjoyable.
The nose opens with aromas of lime, grapefruit, fresh peach and apricot, followed by delicate almond blossom and subtle Atlantic notes. On the palate, Froiña is fresh, elegant and beautifully balanced. Bright citrus fruit combines with a gentle creaminess before finishing with impressive length and a refreshing mineral touch.
Whether served with seafood, sushi or simply enjoyed on its own, Froiña Albariño shows just how elegant and food-friendly great Galician white wines can be.

About the Producer
Casa do Sol is a family-run winery based on a historic Galician estate dating back to the 16th century. The family manages every stage of production, from vineyard to bottle, with a strong focus on expressing the character of their Albariño vineyards. Most of the vines are planted in the cooler Ulla Valley, while selected parcels in Val do Salnés contribute additional freshness and complexity. The combination of Atlantic influence, granite soils and careful winemaking results in wines that are elegant, mineral and unmistakably Galician.
