Description
Lo de Pepitín | DO Alicante, Spain
Some wines tell the story of a place. Others tell the story of a person. Lo de Pepitín does both. This beautifully expressive red from Alicante’s Alto Vinalopó is named after Señor Pepitín, the farmer who spent his life caring for the historic vineyard from which the wine is made.
Produced by Colección de Toneles Centenarios, Lo de Pepitín brings together four traditional Alicante grape varieties: Monastrell, Giró, Arcos and Bobal. Grown in a single, dry-farmed vineyard surrounded by limestone-rich soils, these old vines produce a wine full of Mediterranean character, freshness and personality.
In the glass, expect juicy strawberries, red berries and blueberries, accompanied by wild Mediterranean herbs, gentle spice and fresh balsamic notes. The palate is wonderfully lively and balanced, with fine tannins, bright acidity and an elegant finish.
What makes this wine particularly interesting is its ageing. Eight months divided between French oak barrels and traditional clay vessels give it subtle complexity without overwhelming the fruit. The result is a red that feels both authentic and refreshingly different.
Despite its Mediterranean origins, Lo de Pepitín is not a heavy or overpowering wine. Its freshness and gentle structure make it surprisingly versatile, especially when served slightly cooler than a typical Spanish red.
A wonderful discovery for anyone who loves authentic local wines, traditional grape varieties and bottles with a story worth sharing.

Through minimal-intervention winemaking and the use of traditional vessels, Colección de Toneles Centenarios brings Alicante’s winemaking heritage into the present.
