Description
Almudí | DO Bullas, Spain
Organic
Almudí is a rich yet wonderfully fresh red from Bodega Monastrell, made high in the hills of Valle del Aceniche in Bullas. It combines 90% Monastrell with 10% Petit Verdot, bringing together ripe Mediterranean fruit, spice and elegant oak.
The vineyards sit at almost 900 metres above sea level. At this altitude, warm sunny days are followed by much cooler nights. As a result, the grapes develop plenty of flavour while keeping the natural freshness that makes Bullas wines so distinctive.
Monastrell is very much the star here. Expect ripe blackberry, plum and dark cherry, together with Mediterranean herbs and gentle spice. The Petit Verdot adds extra colour and structure, while 6 months in French Allier oak brings subtle toasted notes and complexity.
The result is generous and full of character, but it doesn’t feel heavy. There is plenty of ripe fruit, smooth tannins and a lovely freshness running through the wine. It’s a proper Mediterranean red with a more elegant, high-altitude personality.

💎 Why We Love It
A serious Monastrell with plenty of Mediterranean character but none of the heaviness. Rich, fresh and incredibly good value for the quality in the bottle.
About the Producer
Bodega Monastrell sits among its own vineyards in the beautiful Valle del Aceniche, between Bullas, Cehegín and Mula. The winery is located at more than 800 metres above sea level, surrounded by one of the most distinctive vineyard landscapes in DOP Bullas.
The estate focuses strongly on organic viticulture and works with its own vineyards. Monastrell is naturally at the heart of the project, alongside varieties such as Petit Verdot. The high altitude plays an important role in the style of the wines, helping to preserve freshness despite Murcia’s warm Mediterranean climate.
That combination of Mediterranean sunshine and high-altitude freshness gives Bodega Monastrell its identity. Almudí captures it particularly well: ripe and generous, but still elegant, fresh and unmistakably Bullas.
