Description
Lecea Blanco | DO Rioja, Spain
Lecea Blanco Chardonnay is a structured and elegant Rioja white crafted by Bodegas Lecea in the historic village of San Asensio , Rioja Alta. Produced exclusively from 100% Chardonnay , the wine reflects a more serious and gastronomic style of Rioja Blanco while maintaining the balance and finesse that defines the Lecea family philosophy.
The vineyards are planted on limestone-clay soils influenced by Atlantic freshness, helping preserve acidity and aromatic precision despite the wine’s richer profile. The grapes are carefully harvested to ensure concentration and balance before undergoing controlled fermentation.
What defines this wine is its aging process — the wine spends approximately 10 months in French oak barrels , gaining texture, depth and complexity while preserving elegance and freshness. The oak is beautifully integrated, enhancing rather than overpowering the fruit.
On the nose, Lecea Blanco reveals aromas of ripe peach, baked pear, citrus peel and pineapple layered with vanilla, toasted nuts, butter pastry and delicate smoky notes. The palate is creamy, rounded and beautifully structured with balanced acidity, subtle oak spice and a long savory finish.
This is a gastronomic Rioja Blanco designed for the table — elegant, textured and far more serious than a simple fresh white wine.

About the Producer
Bodegas Lecea is a historic family winery located in the legendary Barrio de las Bodegas in San Asensio , Rioja Alta. For generations, the Lecea family has preserved traditional Rioja winemaking culture while producing wines that combine authenticity, elegance and respect for terroir.
The winery is famous for its extraordinary network of more than 300 meters of underground caves and cellars dating back to the 16th century , still actively used today for aging and storing wines under naturally stable humidity and temperature conditions. These historic tunnels form a central part of the winery’s identity and contribute to the slow and elegant evolution of their wines.
While Bodegas Lecea is strongly rooted in Rioja tradition, the winery also explores more modern and gastronomic styles, such as this barrel-aged Chardonnay. By combining careful vineyard work with restrained French oak aging, the winery creates whites with richness, texture and complexity while maintaining balance and freshness.
Today the winery is led by siblings Luis, Jorge, Estela and Lidia Lecea , who continue the family philosophy of crafting wines that respect Rioja heritage while expressing personality and authenticity.
Lecea Blanco Chardonnay perfectly reflects this approach — elegant, textured and deeply gastronomic while still unmistakably Rioja.
