Description
Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola Blanco | DO Alicante, Spain
Organic
Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola Blanco brings together two very different sides of Alicante. The Macabeo and Merseguera come from the cooler, higher vineyards of Vinalopó. Meanwhile, Viognier and Moscatel grow closer to the Mediterranean coast. Together, they create a fresh white wine with real regional character.
The current blend is almost equal parts Macabeo, Merseguera and Viognier, with a small touch of Moscatel de Alejandría. Each grape has its role. Moscatel adds floral perfume, Viognier brings ripe fruit and volume, while Macabeo and Merseguera provide freshness, herbal notes and a gentle saline edge.
Fermentation takes place at a low temperature in stainless steel tanks. The winery uses native yeasts and keeps the wine in contact with its fine lees until bottling. This adds texture without hiding the bright Mediterranean fruit.
The nose is full of jasmine, orange blossom, lime peel and fresh Mediterranean herbs. As the wine opens, notes of fennel, chamomile and anise begin to appear. The palate is fresh yet rounded, with good volume, lively acidity and a balanced saline finish.
This is an easy wine to enjoy, but it is far from simple. It feels floral, fresh and generous, while still showing the tension and savoury character that make Alicante whites so distinctive.

💎 Why We Love It
Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola Blanco captures Alicante in one bottle. It combines the floral character of the coast with the freshness and tension of the inland vineyards. The result is aromatic and generous, yet beautifully balanced and very easy to pair with food.
About the Producer
Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola is a small, family-led winery based at Finca Abargues in Llíber, in Alicante’s Marina Alta. The project grew from Pepe Mendoza’s long experience in the region and his desire to work more closely with native grapes, traditional vineyards and the landscapes that shape them.
The estate’s old Giró and Moscatel vineyards were planted between 1920 and 1970. They are dry-farmed, organically cultivated and planted on historic terraces supported by centuries-old stone walls. This demanding style of farming produces low yields, but it also gives the wines greater concentration and a stronger sense of place.
Rather than trying to make Alicante taste like another wine region, Pepe Mendoza focuses on its own Mediterranean identity. Native varieties, native yeasts, dry farming and minimal intervention are central to the project. Casa Agrícola Blanco reflects that philosophy especially well, joining coastal and inland vineyards in one fresh and expressive wine.
