Description
Bodega Cerrón Remordimiento Blanco | DO Jumilla, Spain
Organic
Remordimiento Blanco is a Chardonnay that shows a completely different side of DO Jumilla — fresh, mineral and beautifully restrained rather than rich and heavy.
The story begins in Fuente-Álamo, Albacete, where the Cerrón family planted experimental Chardonnay after the third generation returned from a trip to France. The vineyard sits at around 840 meters altitude, where the elevation helps moderate the warmth of the Mediterranean climate.
The soils play an equally important role. They are intensely calcareous with a sandy texture, giving the wine a distinctive saline, mineral character.
The grapes are harvested and selected by hand. After cold maceration and direct pressing, fermentation takes place spontaneously using native yeasts. Oak is used with restraint, allowing the wine to develop texture and depth without hiding the fruit or freshness.
The result is a Chardonnay with white and yellow fruit, citrus, delicate floral notes and subtle toast, followed by a fresh, mineral palate. There is lovely tension here — rounded enough to have presence, but with acidity and salinity keeping everything beautifully alive.
A Mediterranean Chardonnay with altitude, freshness and a distinctly mineral personality.

About Bodega Cerrón
Bodega Cerrón is a family winery based in Fuente-Álamo, Albacete, in the higher reaches of DO Jumilla.
The family has deep roots in the area’s vineyards, but the current generation has taken the project in a particularly exciting direction. Their focus is on recovering and protecting old vineyards and expressing the distinctive high-altitude, limestone-rich landscapes around Fuente-Álamo.
Organic and biodynamic viticulture form an important part of their approach. Rather than trying to create powerful wines simply because they are in a warm Mediterranean region, Cerrón uses altitude, old vineyards and careful winemaking to preserve freshness, tension and the character of the soils.
Remordimiento Blanco is a particularly interesting example. Chardonnay may not be the grape most people associate with Jumilla, but here the combination of 840-meter altitude and highly calcareous soils gives it a completely different expression.
It is a wine that tells you something about modern Jumilla: this region can deliver much more than powerful Mediterranean reds.
