Description
Bodega Cerrón Remordimiento Tinto | DO Jumilla, Spain
🌿 Organic
Remordimiento Tinto is a wonderfully fresh and characterful red from Bodega Cerrón, made high in the hills of Fuente-Álamo from Monastrell and Garnacha.
This is a very different side of Jumilla. Rather than going for a big, heavy red, Remordimiento is all about juicy fruit, freshness and drinkability. Ripe cherries, raspberries and darker berries mingle with Mediterranean herbs, gentle spice and a lovely balsamic character.
On the palate, it feels smooth and vibrant, with plenty of ripe fruit, fresh acidity and a subtle mineral edge. The tannins are gentle, and there is enough depth to make the wine interesting without losing that wonderfully easy-going character.
The grapes come from 25–50-year-old vineyards planted between 800 and 920 meters, where the cooler conditions and limestone-rich soils help give the wine its freshness and elegance. The wine then spends 8 months in a combination of clay amphorae, large barrels and wooden vats rather than being dominated by new oak.
This is the sort of red that’s incredibly useful to have around: interesting enough for a wine lover, but delicious and approachable enough to open with dinner, tapas or a plate of good charcuterie. A modern, fresher expression of Monastrell that shows just how elegant Jumilla can be.

About the Producer
Bodega Cerrón is a family winery in Fuente-Álamo, Albacete, in one of the highest areas of DO Jumilla. The family has deep roots in local winegrowing and today focuses on recovering and preserving the vineyards and wine culture surrounding the village.
Their vineyards sit at impressive elevations, with many parcels planted on limestone-rich soils. Those cooler, higher sites are an important part of the Cerrón style: their wines tend to show freshness, energy and elegance alongside the naturally ripe Mediterranean fruit of the region.
The family works its vineyards organically and uses biodynamic practices. In the cellar, the approach is equally thoughtful, with spontaneous fermentations and vessels such as clay amphorae and large-format wooden vats helping the wines retain their fruit and vineyard character rather than covering everything with oak.
Remordimiento brings together several vineyard sites around Fuente-Álamo, including La Muela, Las Heras, Sierra Parda, El Cerrico, Las Pedreras and El Tejarejo. Bodega Cerrón describes it as a village wine, created to represent the cooler vineyard sites of Fuente-Álamo.
The result is a lovely introduction to what makes modern Bodega Cerrón so interesting: unmistakably Mediterranean, unmistakably Jumilla, but with freshness and elegance firmly at the centre.
