Cesilia Blanc is a wonderfully aromatic Mediterranean white from Casa Sicilia 1707, made in Novelda in the heart of Alicante. A blend of Moscatel and Malvasía, it is full of ripe fruit, flowers and citrus, yet remains fresh and completely dry.

Moscatel gives the wine its wonderfully expressive character — think white flowers, ripe fruit and a touch of the exotic — while Malvasía brings freshness and balance. There is a lovely richness to the texture too, thanks to time spent on the fine lees, which gives the wine a softer, silkier feel without making it heavy.

The interesting part comes when you taste it. All those ripe, fragrant Moscatel aromas can make you expect something sweet, but Cesilia Blanc is actually a dry white wine. It is fresh, citrusy and beautifully aromatic, with enough acidity to keep everything lively and a long, fruity finish.

This is exactly the sort of white that works beautifully in the Spanish sunshine: easy enough for a glass on the terrace, but aromatic and characterful enough to be interesting with food.

Because it smells like it is going to be sweet — and then completely surprises you. All that Moscatel fruit and floral character comes through beautifully, but the palate stays dry, fresh and citrusy.

It is incredibly easy to enjoy, but certainly not boring. If somebody tells us they want a fruity, aromatic white but not a sweet wine, this is exactly the sort of bottle we would put in their hands.

About the Producer

Casa Sicilia 1707 sits just outside Novelda in Alicante, surrounded by its own vineyards in a distinctly Mediterranean landscape. The winery places the vineyard at the centre of its identity, combining the area’s long winemaking tradition with modern production and a strong focus on expressing the character of Alicante.

Its range covers both indigenous and Mediterranean varieties, producing everything from fresh aromatic whites such as Cesilia Blanc to rosés and more structured reds. The result is a very approachable expression of Alicante: plenty of Mediterranean fruit and personality, but with freshness and balance at its core.
